On the 30th of March 2016 I attended an Aston Martin open day at the Rhoose campus of the Cardiff and Vale College. This event would allow me to see the hundreds of roles offered by a large company such as Aston Martin, and would allow me to look to see if any of these roles would be of interest to me after I complete my studies. On arrival at this open day I was welcomed with severe traffic and a cue which amounted to thousands.
Once the cue had passed and I entered the College, I was given an insight to how a company like Aston Martin works, how their vehicles were thought up, designed, developed, modelled, tested, prototyped before finally being put into production. This event was extremely insightful and allowed me to look in to such a narrow industry. I then spoke to several of the recruitment staff who spoke to me of the several opportunities offered to an university student such as apprenticeships and graduate schemes. Although a long winded day which consisted mainly of cueing in the cold, I found today extremely helpful, it has also allowed me to think past my studies at what career I would possibly like to sustain in the future.
